Then again, I think in some degree everyone worries about acceptance. I mean, I admit, my mouth drops open just a bit when people actually question it."Will I be accepted?" I've lived in NC all of my life and I can't imagine (although I know it does occur) any place that openly discriminates. It baffles me when I see posts on here of people asking if they will be accepted for their race/gender/sexual preference.

No matter where I have been in NC, I have seen so many openly gay couples and I have never seen anyone being harrassed for it. I agree though, I lived in Raleigh all my life except for my recent move to Clayton. Oh thanks, that might have been us you saw! Here, the couples we have seen were smiling, holding hands, out with their children! I love it, and it's the message of acceptance that I want to show my children. We have seen several openly gay couples here in Clayton, I love it! Where we came from (I know, I know.stop saying that!) you could be gay but in public it was expected you to be hush about it. I have not found anyone overtly rude to my face.

You can also check (broken link) They have great forum unbiased information. I know that they went camping the other weekend and a lot of the group is interested in all types of activities. I would recommend joining the Cary lesbian and friends meetup group on Meetup: World's largest community of local Meetups, clubs and groups! My partner and I have gone to a few meetups and the girls and host are awesome at making you feel really welcome.

Legends has a smoke free lounge and plays the usual mix of techno music. It reminds me of the girl version of the gay boys club, Legends. The L Club plays a mix of top forty, hip hop, and techno. You will find that Visions (lesbian Bar) in Durham plays a mix of hip hop and sometimes country. You can check out the best drag shows or cabaret performances, but these queer spaces all offer something unique, from cozy vibes and cheap drinks to high energy dancing and brunch parties - sometimes in the same place on different days! Maybe your interests skew more trendy and urbane, or perhaps you're more of the down-and-dirty, "what happens on the weekends, stays on the weekends" type - we're not here to judge! There are plenty of LGBTQ+ things to do in New York, but if it’s a bar you’re looking for, we’ve got you covered. My partner and I have lived in Durham for the past four years and love it! We find 9th street area and downtown Durham to be very friendly. The West Village is a classic destination for queer nightlife, but you’ll find something exciting and welcoming in pretty much any part of the city. The best queer bars in NYC range from dive bars to dance clubs, with historic spots like the Stonewall Inn anchoring them all. New York has played a major role in LGBTQ+ history, and it’s no wonder there are a slew of bars that have been beacons for the community (and prime party spots) for decades.
